DREAM CELEBRITY AUCTION SCHEDULED AS CONFERENCE HIGHLIGHT

Get ready for an event unlike any you have ever experienced at an IASD conference. Do have a favorite celebrity or expert that you would enjoy meeting? Ever wonder what it would be like to have a personal discussion with your favorite author? At the 2008 IASD Annual Conference we are giving you a first-time-ever opportunity to meet and spend time with some of our well-known members ... our Dream Celebrities! They are well-known authors and experts on the topic of dreams and they are going to be sharing their time with you, and in some especially fun and interesting ways!

On the opening evening of conference there will be a welcome address and a special 25th anniversary presentation. After that, you will be invited to enjoy a cocktail hour, relax, and have some refreshments, while we introduce our Dream Expert Auction.

The Dream Expert Auction features 15 of IASD's most recognized and accomplished members, all ready to be auctioned off to the highest bidder. Our English auction features 12 experts and our French auction features 3 experts. View all of the expert profiles
here.

Each winning bidder will receive personal time with the dream expert sometime during the conference, along with a special gift package. We greatly appreciate the generosity of these esteemed members in giving of their time and resources. We are also grateful to other members and donors who have contributed to provide all of our winning bidders with nice gift packages.

To add to the fun, we asked each of our dream experts one special question, "Is there something about you that few people know but might find interesting or humorous?" Other than the auction hosts, only the winning bidder will get to find out the answer to that question. Are you curious? What we can say is - you would be fascinated by some of the responses! If you want to know how your favorite dream expert answered the question, then start saving your extra dollars and be sure you are there to bid.

GREAT OPPORTUNITY: SELL YOUR WARES AT THE IASD ANNUAL CONFERNECE

IASD members interested in having some of their products sold at a member booth at the 2008 conference can contact Anne at
annefrey@comcast.net  before March 31st.

MEMBERSHIP NEWS FEBRUARY 2008

L’Arc-en-Ciel was created in 1983 by Rose Pineault and André Levesque and will thus be celebrating its 25th anniversary this year, just like IASD. From its two original founders, the organization has grown over the years to a team of fifteen professionals acting as dream counselors, therapists, trainers and workshop facilitators. Based in Montréal, Québec, l’Arc-en-Ciel has an antenna in Québec City and country facilities built on 185 acres of land in Sutton, close to the Vermont border.

As a registered non-profit organization, l’Arc-en-Ciel is dedicated to the expansion of consciousness using dreams and dream work as a means to know oneself better. Maybe what best describes l’Arc-en-Ciel’s approach towards dreams is the title of the collective work published in 2004, Et si les rêves servaient à nous éveiller (What if Dreams Could be Used to Awaken). Dreams and dream work have been at the core of the organization’s activities since its beginning.

These activities include an outreach program consisting of conferences and free monthly sessions to stimulate interest in dreams and dream work, workshops on dreams, shamanism, creativity and yoga; as well as special programs directed at youth (Projet 17-25), men (Entr’hommes, ma véritable identité), and women (Passage de la fertilité à la sagesse), and an eight-day intensive session entitled La Quête de liberté. L’Arc-en-Ciel also offers a two year training program in dreamwork (Formation Connaissance de Soi et Intervention par le Rêve) and long term support groups (Le voyage de la conscience) for those who want to continue their spiritual journey.

This summer, many of us from l’Arc-en-Ciel will be most happy to have the opportunity to join IASD in celebrating our respective 25th anniversary and to participate in the Montréal Dreams without Borders Conference.

Claude Desloges

IASD REGIONAL CONTACTS BUILD IASD COMMUNITY

The list of new and renewing members is even longer than last month when we recorded 88 membership registrations. This month tops that with 93 registrations, of which 43 are new members and 51 are renewals. We are most delighted to see a very large number of new members from Canada. A special group welcome to all of you Canadians and it will be great to meet many of you in person in Montreal at the annual IASD Conference. We featured Claude Desloges and L’Arc-en-Ciel in our Spotlight this month and he shares with us the happy synchronicity of their organization celebrating a 25th anniversary even as IASD does this year.

On this occasion I would like to celebrate the community building work of both organizations and the dream-networking between and among our member organizations and also our regional groups that are growing very organically through the personal outreaches of our regional contacts and many other members of IASD. In preparation for the Spring board meeting I shared in the membership report the following thoughts:

“Communication and community have been mentioned several times as both the work and major purpose of the Membership Committee. But it is worthwhile to mention these points again because the charge to the Membership Committee is not only to keep our member numbers up in terms of funds and current census. It is even more important that members feel that they are seen and heard by IASD and have many avenues to be active contributors to the dream community that we are.

To this end we have kept the membership column in the IASD E-News as a high priority each month in which all new and renewing members names are listed so that they are visible in our community. And, the moving “Spotlight on…” a different region of the world each month attempts to enhance the visibility of groups in different regions and how they further the study and realization of dreaming in their communities.

It is no exaggeration to say that the email correspondence with us in Membership has greatly increased and we are attempting to respond to all of it. In many cases, members are now asking for reps in their areas, or for info on who else might live near them. Following on our President David Kahn’s outreach letter to members, many inquiries & proposals for action have been generated. In short, things are bubbling up and the multiple ways we communicate and have increased our visibility both of individual members and also of groups and opportunities is really evident.” Spring 2008 Membership Report

And in the spirit of community, Jean Campbell, IASD board chair, invites all IASD members to dream of ways to celebrate our 25 years as the premier international dream association that we are. Be an active participant in the planning and celebration by joining in with your dreams, ideas, and contributions of volunteer time and other offerings.

As always many thanks to the entire Membership Committee and all the regional contacts who serve all of us.

DREAMS IN THE MEDIA

DREAMS ON TELEVISION AND RADIO

Bedtime will never be the same! "In Your Wildest Dreams" airs on the Discovery Health channel, Saturday March 22 at 9 P.M. EST, March 23 12:00 A.M. EST, and again on March 29 at 2 P.M. EST. Join dream expert, author and IASD member Lauri Loewenberg as she takes you on a journey into the mysterious dreaming minds of three anxious subjects. Michelle, a special education teacher who has just entered her second trimester of pregnancy and is considered high-risk (due to two previous miscarriages) is having nightmares she fears are foreshadowing the demise of yet another pregnancy. Jayce, a personal fitness trainer who is gearing up for the biggest competition of his life is having confusing dreams about dog attacks. Tamara has just stepped off the corporate fast track to stay at home and has begun to dream, night after night, that her mother is drowning. Tune in and see these dreams recreated through the point of view of the dreamer and find out how they are actually guiding the dreamers through their current life issues.

Ann Hill is the host of a new show, “Dream Talk Radio.” It airs weekly on Thursday mornings, 9:00 – 10:00 A.M., on KOWS 107.3 FM, a community radio station in Occidental, CA. Show format includes conversations about dreaming and waking, listener call-ins, dream themed music and interviews. More information can be found at www.gnosiscafe.com

Kate Adams appeared Feb. 4 on Dublin City FM radio, Feb. 4, a special interest arts and cultural radio station in Ireland.
