My idea is to paint what I feel right away, so my dream art stands on it's own. I don't write any thing down about what I paint. Some times I give the painting a title, but that is all.

I feel that it would be wrong to start to write about the paintings, because it would be too late, and perhaps I would start to interpret the dream too much. My idea is to paint what I feel or can remember right away.

I started doing dream paintings by a coincidence. I was taking an art class about perspective drawing, and I had trouble understanding some of the things we were working with. I must have been thinking about how I could solve the drawing problem, and felt asleep. When I woke up the next morning I knew instantly how to go about drawing the perspective, I graphed pencil and paper right away to do a sketch. I later heard that the brain can work out problems while you are a sleep.

After that I have used my dreams as a tool to solve problems in my art. I have found that if I am in a creative process, and I go to sleep my brain keeps working, and if I create a drawing or painting the next morning I know how to go about creating it.

I am not only doing dream art to solve problems in my art. I also like to use dream art to get my creative juices running. I discovered that I do the most creative and spontaneous art right after I wake up.



About the artist:

I have taken art classes at The Art Academy in AArhus, and at Silkeborg School of Art and The Open College of The Arts in UK and Botanical Art at The London Art College.

I have worked as an art director. In 1997, I had a computer game called “Rosa and The Magic Fairy” published by Interactivision.
