Child of Change, watercolour, 08-2008

Dream:

We (a group of people) are preparing a Greek feast. I speak to somebody. I tell him to take an oar to brew some kind of stew. I go downstairs, there is too much noise. I go back up the staircase to add sausages and trip on my way. Downstairs, some women sit in a circle.  The woman in the middle speaks and holds at the end of her arms a strange little baby boy. His legs do not bend, in fact his whole body is stiff and his face has no expression except maybe a pout – a tear (?).  I look at him from outside the circle.  A woman that seems to be his aunt (in my dream) picks him up from the mother (the woman who was holding him).  She brings him with her.

I attend a celebration. A dance, beautiful women with dark, free flowing hair, dance forming a wide circle. I drink some tea with milk.    I am walking toward the aunt and the baby. She smiles at me (she is friendly).

The child is under a chair, under a blanket, in a hole filled with water. He smiles and asks me to look. I bend to observe. He dives into the water. He wants to show me something.  I wonder if I have to worry when I see his small elbows dip back and forth in the dark water. After a while, he returns to the surface.  He asks me to get closer.  He is holding a metal fish - it looks like a stencil- with an empty center (a hole). He gives me a crystal and tells me to hold it under the left, bottom fin of the fish.  And then the center of the fish is a window, illuminated and a whole troop of small fishes cross in front of my eyes, going from right to left and the window fades. Then the window again illuminates, small round forms (bubbles) pass now cheerfully as the window fades again. The window reappears illuminated and filled with small boats...interesting only myself.
