Dream Hike

The annual dream hike is being planned for a beautiful natural wooded area around Asheville at the
North Carolina Arboretum, Tuesday, June 29th, 4:30PM to8:30 PM.

Transportation and meal included. Please choose between Turkey/Cheese Wrap and Veggie Wrap. $28.00. Registration is closed for the dream hike as it is full. Those who registered and paid prior to June 10, 2010 should make sure to be on time as busses will leave at 4:30. Please wear appropriate walking or hiking shoes (not flip flops). It will be hot and humid and there is a chance of rain at this time of year. Dress appropriately, bring your own water and bring a rain coat or poncho.  (Note: The IASD Board Meeting will meet at the same time as the Hike)

The annual dream hike will take place amid a 434-acre public garden located within the Bent Creek Experimental Forest of the Pisgah National Forest. Surrounded by lush folds of the botanically diverse Southern Appalachian Mountains, The North Carolina Arboretum is adjacent to the scenic Blue Ridge Parkway, at Milepost 393, and is nestled in one of the most beautiful natural settings in America. Established in 1986 by the General Assembly as an affiliate of the University of North Carolina, the Arboretum was founded nearly a century after Frederick Law Olmsted, the 'Father of American Landscape Architecture', first envisioned such an institution near Asheville as part of his legacy to the Biltmore Estate.
