ART EXHIBIT PICNIC LUNCH RESERVATIONS
The hotel has offered to prepare a picnic lunch for you at no cost, since your lunch was already included in your conference fees.

PLEASE NOTE: If you wait until you are here in town to reserve your boxed lunch, you will have to do so by Wednesday evening, for Friday or Saturday, as the hotel requires 48 hours notice.
You can get to Lafonatine Park by taking the Sherbrooke Street bus going west. You can also share a 5-minute taxi ride that shouldn’t be more than a few dollars each.

A juried exhibition of dream-related works will be displayed at the Auberge Universal, and Gallery Art Neuf , Montreal, Quebec., in conjunction with the 25th annual conference of the International Association for the Study of Dreams (IASD), held July 08 – July 12, 2007. There will be two (2) exhibitions: 5 days during the conference at Auberge Universel as well as a two (2) month exhibition July and August (for Montreal and area Artists) at Gallery Art Neuf inc.
Eligibility: Original art work about or inspired by dreams created by IASD members or artists residing in the Montreal metropolitan area.
Media: All two-dimensional and three-dimensional media will be considered, including painting, drawing, collage, sculpture, and installation art.
Deadline for entries: April 1, 2008.

Criteria considered by the jury in reviewing entries will include:

Quality (we are looking for professional quality art works)

Connection to dreams or dreaming

Completeness and quality of supporting documents (incomplete documentation or vague, unclear statements may disqualify an entry. We need a completed entry form, and we need to know how your work is dream-related, how big it is, what the medium is, etc.)

Quality of digital files. (Out of focus, poorly composed or difficult to see images will be rejected.)
All work accepted for the show will be added to the IASD online dream art galleries, unless you specifically request that we not do so. Artists whose work is accepted will be required to provide digital versions of their artist statements and biographies, as well as higher resolution digital images of their work (suitable for printing). Detailed instructions will be included with the acceptance notices.
Nancy Richter Brzeski Dream Art Awards
Thanks to the generous support of Nancy Richter Brzeski, several thousand dollars in prizes will be awarded for the best Dream Art. Winners will be chosen from among the artists whose work is accepted for the show, unless they specifically ask to have their names withdrawn. For consideration for these awards, in addition to the required documentation for the show, artists’ statements must include the dream or the significant part of the dream that inspired the art. The award winners will be chosen by a special panel consisting of Fariba Bogzaran, Nancy Richter Brzeski, and Richard Russo; criteria for selection will be originality, integrity, universality, and relevance to dreaming. Winners will be announced at a gallery reception on Friday, July 11, during the IASD conference.
How to Enter:
Entries may be submitted in digital format only.
Submitting Digital Files
Each artist may submit up to 5 images (multiple views or details of the same piece are acceptable where appropriate). Files should be in JPEG format only. Images should display in the proper orientation, with resolution set at 72dpi and sized to open no larger than 4”x 6”. File names should include the artist's name and an image number (e.g. "Smith1," Smith1detail”, "Smith2," etc."). Images must be submitted on CD, along with accompanying documents and entry forms, each c.d. must have 2 folders well marked: Images (contains only the jpeg image files) the other file marked Documents (contains all supporting documents in Microsoft document format only)
Required Documentation:

A completed and signed entry form, available on the IASD web site.

A brief biographical statement suitable for inclusion in a gallery binder).

An artist's statement explaining how the work is dream-related (suitable for inclusion in a gallery binder).

A list of digital images submitted

For digital images, list by file (artist) name then number:

For each image listed, give title, medium and size of work and price in US$ (if work is not for sale, indicate CA –collection of the artist)

The artist's name should appear at the top of (each) page.

Failure to include all of these documents will disqualify your entry.
(All)Documents must be in Microsoft Word, Any additional comments or personal communications should go in a separate document or cover letter.
Deadline:
CDs and paperwork must be postmarked by April 1, 2008.

Fee:
There is no entry fee for this show, nor is membership in IASD required. However, priority will be given to IASD members whose work meets the jury's standards for selection. For membership information, check the IASD web site http://www.asdreams.org
Notification of Jury's Decision:
The jury will review all entries during April, and notify entrants of the results in early May. No substitution of selected work.
Submission Materials:
No submission materials will be returned.
Liability, Delivery, & Pickup of Work:
All art accepted for the show must be hand delivered on Monday, July 7th or Tuesday morning, July 8 for the on site show and the beginning of July (date to be specified) to the Gallery Art Neuf. If your work is accepted for the show, you will receive detailed delivery and pickup instructions prior to those dates.
All works accepted for the shows must be suitably framed and/or ready for display. Works on paper must be framed under glass or Plexiglas.
All art works will be handled by experienced personnel and the utmost care taken to guarantee the safety of the work. The exhibition room will be staffed during all open hours of the show. However, IASD will not be responsible for any loss or damage to the work during installation or during the exhibition. Insurance is the responsibility of the artist.
